Since April 2003 certain qualifying parents have the right to request flexible working hours. Employers must consider such requests seriosuly but they can refuse the request on certain grounds. As your child is under 6 years of age you are able to make a request. The onus is on you to set out the working pattern that you wish to adopt and explain the effect that it would have on the employer.
In practice it is usually granted if you are working for a large employer (bigger company) than a smaller one as they are more able to accommodate your request.

You're not necessarily entitled to it, but you might be ab;e to negotiate an arrangement with your manager.
It's worth speaking to Human Resources first as they would tell you what you are entitled to and it's worth having them in your corner if your manager objects.
If you don't get anywhere, a lot of public companies offer flexi-time and the NHS caters for mothers with young children and can probably offer flexi-hours as well as extra time off if needed, though some may have to be unpaid.

If you have been with this employer for along time and you are a good worker and the boss likes you then yes you do deserve flexiable hours cuase the boss is cool and respects you but if the boss is being a jerk then there is a problem and u need to find another job that lets u do what u need to do

It's always best to try to negotiate with your boss ask if you can work through lunch and finish early...........I don't know if flexible hours would entitle you to having time of exactly when you need it every single day..............You could always go for a job working only term time!!

You will need to examine your contract of employment, it will state what your hours of engagement are. There may be a clause to work flexitime, this is unlikely if none of your colleagues have such an arrangement. If not, you will have to request an amendment of your contract terms.
