As the saying goes, "No man is an island, no man stands alone"..However, my basic argument was that needs are dependent on wants, and therefore don't exist without a want to fulfill. There's no minimum "needs" requirement anywhere; It's all dependent on what we want. So, consequently, we have basic wants, not basic needs. We don't need to survive. We want to survive, so we need to eat, etc -- a basic want (survival) with a need (food) in order for it to be satisfied.

Cool question.
I think to survive we NEED human contact.
I believe there would be a difference in a need and a want.
I think most people 'want' to be accepted in a western sense of 'want'.
If we lived in India, or other poorer nations perhaps the want would change. Maybe they would want to 'survive'. Have shelter and food.
