ok a graph would be great to illustrate this. but bare in mind that the static frictionis ALWAYS larger than sliding friction.
now in order to freak you out static friction is not constant. it actually react to the force that tries to move the object involved.
imagine pushing a very heavy table using minimum force.
is doesnot move. why due to friction that is equal to the force applies.
then keep on pushing harder and harder and harder and at last the table moves the graph ( imafgine veritcal friction horizontal force applied) looks like : (the turning point is the static friction)
