Laugh Out Loud. Some say 'Lots of Laughs' but that just annoys me. It is overused to much its lost all meaning. People say it for many different reasons, may be because its awkward, because they cant be bothered saying anything else, they dont understand u so they just say 'lol', or simply just if somethings funny

lol means Laugh Out Loud. Not sure why they would say that but thats what LOL means

It's geek for HAHA. I guess typing LOL is quicker than HAHA.
If you're chatting with people and they keep doing that while you type things and are looking for real answers, they are laughing at you, not with you.

it means laughing out loud. I understand how you feel it happened to me too when i was only starting to chat on the net. people tend to do abbreviation so they don't type too much.

An almost exact meaning for "lol" is "nonesense","bullsh....", " you're kiddind me", At least that is what "lol" stands for in the area where I live.
