I know for a fact that you can play poker for money in any establishment as long as the house doesn't take a rake (a cut of the money in each pot), or make any money off of the actual gambling.

Yes you can--unless the private club prohibits it. We have full-on gambling poker tournaments at our clubhouse nearby.
