As an American (and a heavy drinker) who frequently visits Scotland, I have to say that I have recieved a less than warm welcome.
I almost had the shite kicked out of me more than once.
It's weird, in Scotland, being a big guy actually made me more of a target (in America, if you look like you might kick their ****, they leave you the hell alone).
Thankfully, I've perfected my Glasgow area accent. Now no-one messes with me.
It's always fun to warn other tourists that the word fanny isn't a childish word for buttocks like it is in America...

I'm American by birth, and sadly I've got to to say I'm none to thrilled with "my people" as it is. They're mostly apathetic loafs who don't care for the world's environment nor the political situations that arise. Regardless of whether their retard of a president started them or not.
Though, I have to say... As far as people go, there are always the exceptions.
