my sister came after my daughter was born and am so grateful to her. She was there in the background when I needed her. She cooked all the means and made tea for the squillions of people that came to visit after my daughter was born.
Even simple things like her running me a nice big soapy bath was much appreciated.

Laundry , the last thing i wanted to do was wash clothes and iron ... Maybe do the shopping ? My back ached for a few weeks after giving birth and i could hardly walk anyway due to the stitches .
What a lovely person u are , wish my sister-in-laws were like u !
I am sure whatever you do to help you will be greatly appreciated .
God bless .

Oh to have a sister like you! Why dont you just be there, that would probably be enough y 'no.
Keeping on top of housework etc is hard but I just wanted company more than anything when i had mine, once the novelty of everone visiting the new baby wears off you do feel kinda alone....so just be there, I'm sure if she needs you to do anything in particular she'll ask......well done to you, and wish your sister good luk from me!!

well when i had my baby i just wanted company i was abit down for a while but i felt better that my family were there for support. My mum used to make bottles up for me that helped and then when the baby was allowed to go out my mum used to take her for walks while i had a bath or a sleep. without my family there for support i dont think i would have managed. so just being there is the probably the best help you can give. xx

When I had my children, money was tight...some extra diapers, formula usually is appreciated.
...and maybe after she is home for a week, give her and her Hubie a night out and baby sit one evening...babys sleep alot the first month so you probably won't have much to do but look at the darling.

at the end of the day you wanting to help is more than enough that's so good of you,
when my sis had her baby i found doing little thing like dishes for her bits of shopping helping her bath the baby because she was still a little tender and loads of general bits and bobs
when the little one comes into the world you wont have time to think of how you will help you will just go into auntie mode and i bet you will do a super job enjoy

I know I wished for someone to be there so that I could sleep for a few hours. Even if you cook her dinner, and let her know that you will change the babies diaper and if she is breast feeding bring her the baby so she can feed it. If she is bottle feeding then feed the baby and let her sleep for a few hours.

It was the housework that provided the biggest difficulty for me. Standing ironing for an hour or so at a time was impossible, as was taking care of the garden. Maybe you could help them out there.

someone to be there so i could sleep...they tell you to sleep when the baby does but you cant if the sink is full of dishes or the baskets full of laundry etc...but dont wait to be asked to help, new mums dont like to look as though they cant cope so wont ask....arent you nice to be so concerned, what a lucky sister-in-law youve got!
