I'm curious as to wether or not it saves money over a regular toilet and if it's easier to clean? Are they hard to install? Also, what's a good brand...I want to save money. Thanks!

And YES althought there are just two of us it seems like EVERYONE on the planet uses our pot. And YES obviously SOMEONE that uses our toilet (I'm not sure who this is but I have my suspicions) can't aim for crap! The bathroom we are remodeling has two drain in it so I was thinking I'd connect a urinal to one...

No, it's not a good idea.
1. It will make cleaning more difficult, not less. You'll have two fixtures to clean instead of one. The floor around the urinal will get just as dirty as the floor around the toilet does today, and the adjacent walls where urine splashes, will require regular cleaning.
2. It will be expensive to install. Urinals are available for residential use, but uncommon. The purchase and installation costs will be higher than you expect.
3. It won't save enough money in water costs over a modern toilet to justify the increased purchase and installation costs. Do the math - look at what you pay for water and estimate your cost savings over a year.
4. If it's really your home, it will reduce the value of the home when you try to sell it - your realtor might even recommend you remove it. If it's not your home, your landlord will likely object to the installation, or require you to remove it and restore the bath when you leave.
5. Alternatives -
- if you have two baths, reserve one for you, and make him and his buddies use the other.
- make him clean up after him and his friends
- teach him to go outside in the bushes (it works for dogs)
- teach him to sit down, like you, when he uses the facilities.
- find another roommate

I've heard that they do use a lot less water, but I never saw any reports about whether you would save enough water to cover the cost of the urinal and installation. It does seem that the toilet is flushed more times per day for urination than for solid waste, so eventually the water savings would add up to cover the cost.

Urinals can be just as difficult to clean as normal toilets. (I was a lifeguard for 6 years. I've cleaned far too many urinals.)
But for the purposes of resale? I might avoid it. A urinal gives a very institutional feel to a bathroom and will likely turn off prospective buyers. Now if you're going to live there forever and let your heirs sort it out? Go for it.

I would think the women would be all for this, then they don't have to worry if someone forgot to put the seat up or down or whatever. I personally think its a great idea, specially if you have some sloppy friends and tell them not to throw their cigarette butts down in there. It's not an easy job to install one, you'll have to get a plumber to do it. The amount of water used per flush is a lot less, But you will probably never in your lifetime save enough by using less water per flush than what it will cost to have it installed.

Do you live in a Frat house or with 20 other people? Then it would make sense. Otherwise, I believe toilets are just as energy efficient, but a urinal would maybe be easier to clean but would be expensive to install.

Your living area must be kept clean if you really interested in survival. It is easier to clean only a toilet instead of both a urinal and a toilet too.
Unless you want to face uncomfortable opportunity costs forget the urinal unless you are running a public toilet with lots of users.

You are crazy. Next time you are in a mens room look at the floor. See all the liquid? That's not water... Or have you ever seen where the little metal divider wall is all corroded?
If you enjoy wiping up your own pee, go ahead and put one in. Otherwise, just put a brick in your toilet, you'll save about the same amount of water.
