I loaded a bunch of files for a back up onto my external hard drive, after removing the files, some of them went to the recycled folder on the external hard drive. When I try to delete the recycled folder, it says its in use somewhere (I even booted into safe mode). When I delete the files with-in the recycled folder they just reapear in the folder. How do I completely remove all of these files, so the person I sell the drive too wont see my files and pictures that remain in the recycled folder??

boot your system as usual with the external hard-drive connected.

once booted goto MyComputer and right on the drive pointing to your external hard-drive and select properties.

on the dialog appearing click on disk clean up on the General tab.
it will show the data in the recycled folder.. u can then follow the steps to clear that.
