Yes I can.I have already answered thi question twice tonight.
Take a trip down the Mornington Peninsula to Westernport I recommend Point Leo ., take in the scenery , and walk along g the beach .Next beach up is Shorham not nearly as developed ,however has toilet block cold showers , . Usually the water is nice and calm, sometimes a gentle swell rolls in.
Incidentally Point Leo is a popular Surfing destination so you might want to take a board, and some shorts, a bit rocky.
Shorham is actually better for a beginner like me.
If your thing just lazing on the beach , and exploring a bit shorham is the place to go , a bit of weed builds up on the beach but that is part and parcel to Western Port .
If it's walking you want or shady pies by the beach that shade the hot afternoon sun . .by the way you might want to get down there in the morning due to the shade from the pines this time of year.
Also a most excellent spot is Coolart on the Somers road.
This is an old English home stead set back in a mixture of Australian coastal bush, and European park lands. There are plenty of picnic shelters to make use of.
There is also a wet lands reserve there that is quite pleasant and walking tracks that are quite established following the local creek through the bush, and out on to the beach.
Highly, recommended.
Also it’s a good drive down the Frankston Flinders road rout 777 I think, and then on from flinders down Boneo Road between flinders and Rosebud, and then back along the Coast to Melbourne this way you get to take in the Westernport Bunurong Coast, and Port Philip.
To know more my Yahoo 360 Blog is dedicated to Melbourne and day tours it is a work in progress, there’s a bit at the front that is Irrelevant but still worth a read. Hope you have a good picnic please see my blog and leave a comment.

The Dandenong Ranges are an awesome place... There's lenty of places to go. The Rhedodendrum Gardens are great or the big lookout on the top of the mountain has been ugraded recently and there's a nice cafe there and garden etc. Olinda is also lovely.
Or there's the scary haunted house... but something tells me it's not the perfect picnic spot. It's also not too far. Straight down Ferntree Gully Road.
