LIKE is more a sensory perception... touch, smell, taste, hear and see.. One or more of these sensory elements combine to make you LIKE something ( equally hate something too)
LOVE, goes beyond. It is more feeling related , sensual and , for want of a description, we call it a matter of heart. LOVE can be seen with closed eye, heard wthout ears and felt ... yes... felt without touch
It is in the mix up between Like and Love many relationships run into trouble

like = when people agree with one another.
love = when u care about another person.
people usually get confused between these two; we do not have to like everyone (meaning, our values and culture and how we were bought up differs a great deal, plus we are all unique individuals). But when we love a person, we give our all, we are concern about their safety, their health; we care about their situations, etc.
Like is kinda at a shallow level; u can like a person, but dont totally love them. But u cannot love a person if dont like them first.

like is a feeling that can be for anyone that you met, but love is something that you should charish, it is a bond between two people that is true and pure and cant be broken, i believe that god put a sole mate on this world for everyone, just like he did with adam and eve, he made eve from adams rib, that made them sole mates, there is and eve and adam out there for all of us and that is what love represents, love for someone is living without a second going by without thinking of that one person, when you cant live or survive without that person there by your side loving you unconditionally back, when you find your true love, your sole mate you will know you will feel it with your heart. wow!..... what a coincidence.... I just wrote about it in one answer, refreshed my page and I saw ur question.
Long story short.. u may like a person for his/behavior, attitude, sexual style or whatever.... You can like anyone of any race/sex gender for any particular reason.
If you say Love... u have to like the person in such a way that the person is almost a part of your life, you cannot go without the person at all and you can sacrifice anything (even something that you do not want to give up) for the person.

There is a major difference between like and love. You can like everybody, everything but you will love someone, something particularly. You can share everyboy in your like but you will never like to share anything in your LOVE.

love is a stronger feeling than like. loving someone means you really know that person and adore everything about him/her. however liking someone means you dont really know that person well and probably its your first impression of him/her that made you have such liking feeling. love in this sense can be family, friends, couple love.

Like means you get on with someone, but you don't necessarily want to become attached. Love means you can't do without someone and you want to be with them long-term.

like is a temporary thing. its more or less like the butterflies in your stomach. love is when you arte prepared to give yourself, sacrifice and endure everything that will result on the relationship. there is commitment and respect.
