I understand that both have passed away, but why is it that people still believe they will come back to live one day? Someone please help me understand better. Thanks!

When Elvis died he was just 42 years old and many people could not come to terms with the fact that he had died.

"Elvis Lives" was used by fans in the first instance to show their devotion to "The King" would continue even after he died - and that has proved to be true because even to this day Elvis is still the biggest grossing artist of all time. I understand that since his death he has continued to earn more money each year than the top artists of that year - and still does this today.

The media picked up on the "Elvis Lives" slogan and, as the media do, translated it as saying that Elvis fans believe he hadn't died.

An author, called Gail Brewer-Giorgio, wrote a fictional book called Orion about a singer who faked his own death. It wasn't selling too well so she came up with a story about how the Estate of Elvis Presley had tried to silence the book to prevent people making comparisons with Elvis. She claimed that this was proof that Elvis had faked her own death and then people started buying Orion.

Those who say Elvis never died point to a number of "evidential" claims"

They say that a photo released of Elvis on his deathbed showed a much younger Elvis.

They say that attempts to steal Elvis' body from a mausoleum in Memphis was carried out by people trying to prove Elvis wasn't dead (his body was moved to Graceland after this attack)

They say that the spelling of Elvis' name on his gravestone shows "Aaron" for his middle name whereas his birth certificate records "Aron".

And then there are the sightings - so many that in England there was even a hit record - "There's a guy works down our chip shop claims he's Elvis".

The sightings are not unusual because when Elvis died there were 4,296 Elvis Presley Impersonators around the world. Today there are 89,463. At that rate half the world's population will be Elvis Presley impersonators by the year 2035.

As for 2pac - sorry, but I haven't heard of him and I don't think he can be put into the same bracket as Elvis Presley - either in terms of sales and impact when alive (and worldwide fame); nor in terms of post-death sales and continued impact and intrest.
