I have mint in my garden -- not in pots but loose. It spreads and I don't really mind but will the new growths taste as good as the original plant?

It should remain the same. But if the new parts of the plant are not getting enough nutrients, then they might lose some flavor. Also over-watering might cause it to lose flavor.

I would think so, because it's the same plant. If you have a seed grown plant the flavors might be different, especially if you have severeal kinds of mints.
I used to think peppermint and spearmint were the only kinds of mints...until I went to the garden center! Talk about a mint attack lol

Great answers. I agree. additional info: mint is an entirely invasive plant. It will spread and spread, and if you ever want to get rid of it, be prepared to use herbicide or dig for days...the roots go on forever.

Don't be silly, of course it will. once mint has reached it's size any and all of it will taste the same, weather you use it for mint tea , or eat it strait up!

It's an offshoot of the original and should taste just as good if not better.
