She sees the sapling her husband planted on their 20th wedding anniversary, now grown over the roof.
She sees the fence gate that he never did repair right after their son bet his friend that he could bend it.
She sees the bare patch in the lawn where her grandson poured a whole box of salt to kill one slug, and the lawn never did grow back.
She sees the brick pathway with weeds inbetween, and tree trunks pushing some of the bricks askew.
She sees (feels) the warm sun on her face coming through the windows that her daughter comes over every month to clean.

Those should give you some starters :-)

A lonely 80 year old widow looks out her bedroom window from the 16 floor of her high rise apartment to see what used to be a bustling city. Days gone past of horse drawn carriages, people stopping in the streets to greet one another, asking how each others days were, stopping to catch a glimpse at the neighbor's newborn baby as her mother strolled down the sidewalk happily humming to herself pushing her baby carriage. She pondered and asked herself, "what happened to those days?" She missed the times she spent with friends over the bridge table, laughing, drinking lemonade on hot days and sharing the latest gossip. But the thing she missed the most, was Henry, her high school sweetheart, her husband of sixty years. As a tear rolled down her face, she held his handkerchief close to her heart, and sighed a deep sigh wishing only to be with him once again...

It's unclear exactly what the shadow may be under the waning light cast by the moon but it definitely suggests a shape that couldn't possibly have any sort of good intention.
It is hunkered down and moving stealthily across the lawn. The sweet smell of recently clipped grass hangs in the evening air and is subtly wafted through the open-window screen. But now, so are the sounds of heavy feet scurrying, sounding as if the stranger is approaching rapidly.
The old woman, known to everyone in this little farming town as Elle, feels a sudden piercing fear she has never known. Her oldest son Phil who lives with her, is out of town on a fishing trip with some old friends. Phil had wanted her to stay with Rita for the week long chartered outing but Elle had flat-out refused saying, "When I take-on bad enough not to be able to look after my own self for a week I guess I'll check myself into the nursing home! Besides, Rita's got enough to worry about raising those nephews and nieces of yours!"
Now as she sat practically frozen with fear she had a moment to regret those words. But never-mind what she shouldn't have done, what in the name of the good Lord should she do now?

Another WalMart being built on an old Indian Burial Ground. She saw the movie Poltergiest and she's very concerned-she just doesn't remember that her porridge is burnt and getting ready to start a fire which will consume her home in 7 minutes and thusly take her life. In Heaven, she will meet Pocahantas who will tell her tales of grilled Goat Meat and strange liquids drunk from the bladder of a Yak. The liquid is sour and the mushrooms rank, this is some kind of dream where she's old and staring out the window looking a the construction of a WalMart on top of an old Indian Burial Ground.
