now sure, one can argue that a console is better for gaming but what does it really give, and what has it given in the past?
historically consols have thrived because computers were just too expencive. also people were able to just plug and play.
now consoles are losing the price edge on PC's with the nex-gen systems and whatnot. it seems the PS3 and 360 are more of a computer than a gaming console. so why are we still shafting ourselves by buying machines that have really only one purpose, play games, when we could open up ourselves to a much broader spectrum by utilizing a computer?
you could say... well consoles have the controlers, well i still havn't come across an applianc eor electronic gizmo that can't be used with a USB port lol. so that argument is out the door.
i guess the only thing consoles really have is the couple hundred dollars off the price...
PC give you more imput/controlling options for games and more functionality
comments?

it all depends on how much u can pay.
sure comps are expensive but the real gaming experience comes from PC.
but on the other hand consoles are better as u dint get errors like
"low graphics"etc..
so always consoles are better

I'd have to say console gaming is a better deal.
True, prices are going up, while computer prices are going down - however, system requirements are getting more and more steep for pc games.
It's possible to buy a cheap computer that you cannot get some pc games to work on. My son has bought some pc games that he has to play on my computer (which I upgraded my video card on) because they wouldn't work on his pc.
If you look at console games - you never have that problem. You only have to plug it into a t.v. - and you're good to go. If you buy an Xbox game, or a GameCube game, you don't have to look at the "system requirements" and see if your console has enough power, or the right components to play a particular game.
Now - overall performace - you're right, PC games take the cake, you can do a lot more with a keyboard and a mouse than you can with a console controller. So, if you've got a maxed out gaming pc with a monster graphics card, a ton of RAM, and a speedy processor, then your gaming experience will be a lot better than playing the same game on the console.
The problem is - not everybody can afford to max out their computer this way.

PC gaming all the way. The only disadvantage with it right now, is that new gamers are designed to utilise the very best specification computers. Whereas with a PS2 game for example, the max capability of the system never changes, so games developed for that are always playable.
If you've got a top of the range system to play computer games on, it's far superior in my opinion. Bigger, more complex games, better graphics...and like you said, you can always install a controller.

Just recently got Half-Life 1 and 2. Changed my mind completely about console gaming. I think PC Games will get the upper hand sooner or later especially since you can buy PS2 Controller Imitations for the PC

Console gaming is more democratized ... yes, sounds strange when your question comments that PC gaming gives you more (input) options. But with consoles, everyone pretty much gets the same experience, same controller (ignoring 3rd party ones with turbo buttons and such) same hardware.
The latter is a benefit to the publisher, it pretty much guarantees that everyone will be able to run it. There isn't the myriad of hardware options and processor speeds to accommodate, and since the hardware doesn't change for several years, they can concentrate more on making a good game than making a game work at all. Plus whatever programming tricks they discover over time they know will work for all people.

Console gaming. I'd rather sit back on a couch with a controller than be hunched over a keyboard. Plus, my laptop can't handle most of the latest games, and I don't feel like paying thousands of dollars for one that can.
