Well...two spoonfuls of Venos, 1,200 mgs of aspirin (thrice daily) and not forgetting one 400mgs tab of carbamazepine before bedtime.

Really - unless you're Uncle Leviticus, you cannae do a great deal. Unlike certain parts of Britain (in the early-mid eighties), homosexuality is not a fashion nor lifestyle you latch onto after watching a 'weekend gay' singing on the telly...usually unfashionable (straight) pop stars latching on to the camperies of the time. Unlucky for you it's in their genes...have you ever come across men who had been married for years, with bairns and grandkids who only married because of the family they belonged to, but came out in their 40's and 50's - what do you think about those poor sods...had to act for most of their life until their bairns left home, and thus safe enough to come out?
Your yearning for 'assistance' will make you a laughing stock..and here's the big one - might open your particular mind up to what you desires you hold (or thought you held).

Being gay isn't like being addicted to heroin, you can't help someone stop and why would you want to change them anyhow? Why should it be an issue to you? This is probably what you should be looking at more, and thinking about how you can help yourself change your own attitudes.

If the person is a friend and is just coming out, the thing they probably need most is support and understanding, not judgement and negativity. It's far easier to go through life accepting people's differences and embracing them, than trying to force everything to fit into your vision of how it 'should' be.

The best way you can help this person is by showing them you care, whatever their sexuality.

You could try being a bit more sympathetic - you moron. A gay man or woman does not choose to be gay they just are. Either accept it or stop interfering with their lives.

There is no reason why anyone should stop being gay. If you try to 'help' you will probably just cause problems.

Has he asked you to help him? If so, then he needs to talk to a counselor. If he has not asked you, he may be perfectly happy with his lifestyle, and that is simply none of your business. Why would you think it is your job to redirect someone else's life? Who made you the judge of him as well as the jury. Perhaps you need to look at your own life first and work on quit being so morally high and mighty and so judgementa.

I'm sure if they could chose not to be gay they would. You should just learn to except them for who and what they are. I imagine life is hard enough already for them with out you trying to "help" them no matter how well meaning.

If they want to be straight that would be the first step.

Since homosexuality is a behavior I believe there could be ways to change from it, but most gay people don't want to change, and those who do don't believe it can be done.

If a person wants to change and chooses to change it can probably be done for many if not most, but the first step would be them wanting to change and wanting to change badly enough to make some serious modifications to their attitudes and behavior.

If someone gay has asked you for help, then, that's an other matter !
But he or she should be refered to someone professionnal for advice !

Otherwise, let it be !
