Tell me why people do not know how to bid? The original reason for ebay was to bid on items, hoping to get them for cheaper than normal costs. People are so stupid they do not realize they can save a lot of money. First of all, NEVER BID on an item when the auction first starts. That is just retarded. All you are doing is raising the price. If people were smart they would all wait until the last minute and then bid. Guess what!? You may not win, but atleast you aren't paying a grip of money for the same crap. Just keep doing it until you win! And yes i do understand the reserves, which i guess is ok. But, for idiots that bid 6 months before the auction ends, what are you thinking?

button21, your avatar is blonde. By your answer you definitely must be too. I am glad you atleast figured out that ebay and yahoo answers are not the same and now you feel really smart about it. Thats good.
As for JS637
Please read the whole question and if you do not understand it, you are stupid. You give brunnettes a bad rep. The question specifically says "why are people WHO BID on ebay so stupid?" Therefore, it has nothing to do with the people selling. Why can't we send messages to all the people who leave stupid answers thinking they are smart?

Not good to make sweeping statements like that. The word "some people..."" would have made you sound nicer. One other thing, referring to people as "retarded"" makes you look very bad. I'm for free speech, but not at a developmentally disabled group of people's expense.

People have their own bidding strategies.

Say a #1 Barbie in mint condition is offered. Now I know from experience that the doll is worth $9000.00.

The bidding war rages on.... I watch for awhile, the bidding goes to $4500 a few minutes before the end of the auction.

Now I want that Barbie so bad. I placed my bid as soon as I saw the doll days before - a token bid with $22,000 as my maximum bid knowing that I will beat the snipers out! I have never lost an auction.

The earliest bid gets the win even if there is a tie!

well sometimes if the seller is hard up for money, he can close the auction early and the last bidder(who may be the 1st one to bid) wins and he gets to pay so much less!

not everyone is a smarta5s like you. you can pat yourself in the back for coming up with this question. =)

just remember, everyone is different. you may think a person overbid on an item is dumb, why won't you think about the person who sold the item, the smart ones, cuz he/she is making the profit.. =) one lose, one gain..
