I've known 2 people that had a online romance. One couple didn't make it and the other couple have been together almost 5 years now.
It's just like any other relationship. Be it online or face to face.

I met my girlfriend online. I moved a few hundred miles to be with her, then after a while we moved back to my hometown. We've been together for a couple years now. I can't tell you why it worked, except for that we're completely devoted to each other no matter what bad things came our way, and there have been a lot.

i met my exfiancee online. and you have to be willing to move. i wouldnt recommend it. I moved where he lives, but it wasnt working out there so when it came time to move anywhere but where he lived, he didnt want to leave. Not because he has a good job or anything he was a mommass boy.
