I would recommend packing personal hygiene items for yourself (deodorant, pads, toothbrush, etc.), a robe, slippers, lifesavers or some kind of hard candy to suck on while in labor, a crossword puzzle book or something like that (if your labor is easy or you have an epidural you might find that you can't sleep and want something to do, if not then when the baby is in your room if you aren't tired you will be glad for something to do), an outfit to go home in (something comfortable), extra underwear, a nightgown (they let me wear my own after delivering).
For the baby the only thing you really need is to take a going home outfit and depending on the weather something warm for over it and a receiving blanket. The hospital will supply everything the baby needs for its stay there. Most will also give you the rest of the pack of diapers, wipes, etc that they have under the babies bassinet for its use while there. Most also have a pack of stuff they give you either in a bag or a diaper bag with samples and coupons in it.

You will mostly need to pack for you. The hospital will supply you with diapers, wipes, and give your baby baths. Maybe an outfit that is for newborns. They can't exactly fit into the 0-3 months just yet unless they are over 8 lbs. For you I would take slippers, pajamas that are very comfortable, lots of extra underwear!!! The kind that can hold really big pads. They will have pads for you too. but you will need about 6 pairs of underwear because they will get bloody. Tooth brush, pony tail holder. That's about it. You won't want to read a magazine or anything like that. You'll be sleeping or holding your new baby in your free time. Don't forget a nursing bra if you plan to nurse. Also, some comfortable clothes to go home in.

After having 3 kids, I recommend no diaper bag. I packed one with all sorts of goodies, and ended up not using none of it. The hospital gives u the brush, formula, thermometer, etc. I suggest u pack YOU a bag, and just put the babys going home outfit in your bag. In your bag, fat panties and big loose clothing. And dont forget the maxi-pads. The hospital gives you something like a baby diaper that goes from your bellybutton to........your back. You arnt gonna wanna put nothing tight on. Just dont take alot, because you might have to make two trips home. Everybody always brings you stuff after delivering (flowers, balloons, stuffed animals) try to get as little as possible from home :)

hey, make sure you pack things for after your baby is born like its changes of clothes, singlets, wipes, nappy rash cream, a dummy -just incase- a couple of little blankets for him.
And for you during labour you wont really need much at all, but take with you a couple of heat packs to put on your back and your tummy for the pain. Also you will need some shower gel and a toothbrush and moisturiser for after you have a wash when the baby has been born.
You can take some makeup with you into the hospital for the days after the birth to make you feel abit better, if you want to. Shampoo and conditioner. comfy loose fitting clothes like trackie pants and singlet tops or something because your belly will still be pretty big.
The hospital pretty much have everything that you need on hand, like nappies and baby wash, and blankets etc.
If you are breastfeeding take a few boxes of breastpads with you, they are the one thing i think i needed the most of and more of! Also some Nipple cream is good for when they get sore!
Goodluck with everything, hope all goes well!
Remember those heat packs! hehe.

I brought with me the car seat, going home outfit for the baby, a change of clothes for me, some pads, toiletries and change for the phone.
The hospital supplied me with a nightgown, robe, elastic fish net looking underwear ( really comfortable !) breast pads...diapers, pretty much everything I needed. When my g/f had her baby she went in with a bag stuffed full of everything and didnt use even the slightest of it.SO I really didnt want to bring much, besides if I really needed something my parents or hubby would go and get it for me...like food when they forgot to give me a meal. There was a mistake and I didnt get any dinner untill 5 mins before I was checked out that evening..then as Im all packed and ready to go the woman gets bitchy because I didnt eat the food they supplied... :P

Back when I was having babies they were giving us all kinds of stuff for the baby. Depending on the season, you'll need something to bring him/her home in. And have that car seat ready. But my mom always made sure I had something pretty to wear in the hospital, because she knew that a woman doesn't feel very pretty then. Of course, back then, a woman actually stayed in the hospital for a few days. Not like now, deliver at noon, out by five. I got to lay around

For you really comfy ans stretchy clothes, also take a small blanket with you the ones in hospital don't realy keep you warm, also bring your own robe. For baby bring clothes and blankets. Make sure you have his/her first outfit for first pics. If your going home right after you don't need a whole lot but if your going out afterward then bring diapers and wipes and plenty of extra clothes.
Also tooth brush and paste and your own shampoo and conditioner theirs suck.

This is what I took,
For me: a nightie that opens in the front (practical)
a robe & slippers
toothbrush
something to keep your hair out of the way (scunchie)
a comfortable coming home outfit, sweats and baggy
shirt, you will want to be comfortable
Baby: a few diapers, although hospitals in BC provide them
3 or 4 sleepers (1 that will be the"coming home" outfit
a warm blankie, and flannel receiving blanket
Make sure you ask for the measuring tape that they use to measure the baby with, and little hospital id's. (this is if you want to start a special memory box for your baby. Thanks for asking this question, it brings back such beautiful memories. Good luck with your delivery.

something for the baby to wear home, and have his first photo in, the hospital often supplies you with samples of baby supplies, you need something to wear home, likely you wont be thin but you also wont be as big as you were. slippers, a nursing bra, a front opening nightie for nursing. a robe. tooth brush and toothpaste, shampoo, grooming supplies, a diaper bag usually holds diapers, baby wipes, powder, and even a dry onsie and maybe a rattle and a pacifier.
