anyone here from NT or would like to tell me about why people wouldn't want it to be a state? I mean currently the Fed Gov can overturn ur laws and if they got rid of the act as well then u wouldn't hav to say states and terriroties making it lovely for everyone. so do u think NT should become Northern Australia?

For all intents and purposes, NT is a state, basically its only a technicalitity that its a territory. And to change the name now would be impractical. Imagine changing New York to New George, just for the fun of it - can you imagine how much expense, confusion and trouble would go into it - not to mention public uproar??

hey im from QLD, i really don't think so.. the aboriginals coming here lately are really dirty and annoying, plus they always go on about how this is "their land" and i honestly don't think many of them would want that, plus the NT gov has special things in place to care more for aboriginals than others states and teritories

in conclusion i say no......

Because they are self administered - and you left out poor little ACT!

EDIT - Crikey Jobe - you're gonna cop a lot for that one - that was pretty offensive!
