Each baby is different. As long as he isn't irritable when he is awake he should be OK. As he gets a little older he should start sleeping for longer periods at night - especially if you don't have bright lights and loud noises etc when you go into him at night, don't speak, just change him or feed him or whatever the problem is, put him back in his crib and leave the room - especially if its like 2 or 3 in the morning and he really ought be asleep. Failing that, see a pediatrician, there may be a deeper reason but its not unusual for babies that age to wake often.

Yeah thats completely normal. They say at that age he should get atleast 14 but every child is different. My first daughter only slept 10 to 12 hrs a day from 3 weeks old and my 2 month only sleeps bout 10 hrs a day too. Dont be worried, if he needs sleep he will get it.

I would say that they vary depending on the baby. Average is about 15-18 hours a day. They sleep a lot! Remember, all babies are different.

As many as needed to keep the parents sane. No, he should be sleeping more. They only grow when the sleep. Try swaddling him, in blanket - like they do in hospital when he was born - makes them feel more secure and helps them sleep.
