are you asleep????????
are you dead?????????
these two questions cannot be answered in yes. because as soon as you say yes, it becomes a lie. if a person is asleep or dead, he wont say so. but if u wake up a person and ask him if he is asleep, he will surely say, "not anymore"

No question that starts with a wh- can be answered by yes or no. Imagine, Where are you? Yes.
It doesn't make sense.
So if you ask a question with WHAT/ WHO/ WHERE/ WHICH/ WHY/ HOW/ WHEN and WHOSE, the answer cannot be yes.
What nationality was Mother Theresa?
Who kicked the dog?
Where do you live?
Which books do I need?
Why are we waiting?
How are you?
When is the match?
Whose idea was this?
All need to be answered with something other than "yes".

what are you (... doing, cooking, reading, watching, driving, looking at, talking about, looking for, heading for, hitting, killing)... pretty much anything here as long as you do not suggest anything such as "what are you, stupid?".. because that would give you the basic yes/no answer, though may be a little bit more colorful than that.
need more?
