I personally like to follow the rock scene, and I've listened to probably the two best rock bands out of Australia right now: Wolfmother and Jet. Wolfmother has that Led Zeppelin sound that really pays homage to 70s rock. Jet is about the same, with the classic rock feel and catchy rhythms and lyrics. Their first album blew me away. They are both really popular here stateside. Too bad Wolfmother cancelled their last shows on their American tour (the bassist/keyboardists wife is having a baby). I would have killed to go see them.

I don't listen to Australian pop, really. Pop to me is the same everywhere. Kylie Minogue had one breakout song. To me, rock is where its at.

I know I'm going to sound very old and outdated, but Australian music's best for me personally was the AC/DC fronted by Bon Scott, who had one of the greatest rock singing voices ever. Sorry that I'm not more current than that!

Tommy Emmanuel is a fabulously talented guitarist who I've had the privilege of seeing perform live a couple of times. Also attended a guitar workshop he gave, very informative and entertaining.

Rolf rather than Kylie, BTW : )

With artist such as Kylie and Danni Minogue and INXS, I don't think that Australia has that much to worry about.

Oooops, forgot all about Rolf Harris - nothing else needs to be said.
