I have a 1992 Toyota Previa Van which is maintained on a regular basis. When I turn the ignition now nothing happens. It made a pop sound the first time. The headlights work fine. Could it be an electrical problem possibly?

Probably electrical, May be a minor fix.

SOUNDS LIKE THE ELECTRICAL CONTACT BETWEEN THE BATTERY AND THE STARTER HAS BEEN SEVERED PROBABLY JUST A BAD BATTERY CABLE.

sounds like the rubber band broke(serpentine belt that drives various parts), open the hood and look

possibly the timing chain broke

Not sure,but did you check you're fuses ? Sounds like a fuse to me !
