Is the saying "once a cheater, always a cheater" really true? My boyfriend recently cheated on me. We broke up, but we eventually got back together. He tells me all the time what a mistake he made. Is it possible that he won't do it again? Have you ever known anyone who cheated once, but never again? Please give me some serious answers.

Yes I've known a friend of mine, Well the world is round, we can't take away possibilities on things... but one thing is...if you truly love him....you'll forgive him and forget the past...yes it's hard to trust again but trust is not an overnight thing...time proves your trust...so tell him the same thing. In that, you could only trust him again and never doubt. In return, he will do everything just to win your trust back...and he will never get tired of it unless he doesn't love you anymore.

I'm hoping so because I have gone through the same thing.

My gf cheated on my earlier this year with someone from her school. She then realized that this guy was not being honest with her and just used her for sex. We have since gotten back together and she repeatedly tells me that she is embarassed for what happened. She made a mistake and it was dumb.

I think it is possible to only do it once. Its really how someone views the situation. If it happened because you didn't love the person anymore then I think its possible it will happen again because I don't think that love is there. But if they love the person they are with and made a mistake (drunk, felt something for someone else as well) than i think its possible that it only happens once.

Whatever the case, I hope for you and I it works out.

I'm sorry to say that saying is really true! I'm 38 I've had 3 men
do that to me and then say It was wrong please don't leave me
so I'd always give them a chance ok. But then it never fails they
always do it again, so I would nip it in the butt, no matter how
much you love them, let them go so you can get on with your
life,I always look at how much of my life, days ,or years lost
over worrying over a man. well good luck.
If he had really love u he would had never done in the first place
right?

Yes My boyfriend cheated on me two years ago and we got back together, I took me ages to trust him again and to get over what he did but we worked it out and we are happy...we have been together for 5 years and at that point things werent going well for us, but after he cheated we kinda woke up and realised that we really do love eachother, and that our relationship may not be perfect but its something we treasure.Sometimes people make mistakes and yes you can get through it. If he really cares for you and respects you he wont do it again.....

Well shortly after I started dating my now husband for 5yrs he cheated on me with one of his ex's. I punched him and dis-located his jaw. We got back together about a month later.. he has seriously NEVER cheated on me again and we have been married for 5yrs now. But who's to say everyone is different. My husband is just terrified that I just won't dis locate his jaw next time but that I will more than likely kill him. I scared the cheating right out of him.

Everyone is different.. so it depends on the person.. you can't just go by someone elses experiences...

My friend is a good example for that, he told me that he once cheated on his girlfriend he didnt really mean it for he was drunk and the girl did gave motive ( seduce ) but my friend says that he regret it and he feels guilty about it and swear not to do it again. He told her girlfriend that what was done will never be undone and that he feels sorry for it. The girlfriend did forgave him and gave him another chance.

He said that he loves his girlfriend so much and that he will never do anything that would hurt her for she doesnt deserved to be hurt...Bottom line they got married and they got a very open and happy relationship.

Well my bf cheated on me 4 months after we started seeing each other, before we got serious. Now 2 years later, we are still together, and he has never cheated again.

I think cheaters usually cheat again, but I could be wrong.

We are not born cheater, that arrive at a given moment and disappear at another time, that depends only on one person to another.

I cheated on a couple of my boyfriends when I was in my early 20's. When I got married (20 years ago) I never EVER cheated again.
Good luck to you.
