I am the owner of an Asus Notebook. Using XP Pro. Will only let me log on as a Guest user, (in Russian text to add insult.) Pre loaded Wiindows etc, therfore no disc.
How do I repair, when I can't install or delete programs?

You can press ctrl+alt+del twice in a row fast and it will take you to the default admin account which hopefully they did not set a pass for.

Get the name and try to logon as them. Good luck guessing the password. Try just hitting enter first.

Does it not even pop up the password dialogue box or has the password been corrupted somehow?
You might end up having to go out and acquire a "Winblows" XP Pro CD-ROM. Most annoying process to at least preserve and get to your files is to take out the HD and hook it into another machine as a secondary HD. Boot the machine, grab the files you need off your HD, move them to the machine's HD, put your HD back into your laptop and install XP Pro [with HD format first option]from scratch as well as your programs. Then network together the two laptops or put your files onto a CD-RW or DVD-R and move them back onto your machine for your programs to use.

Basically you have a bootlegged copy of windows what you will need to do is get a legit installation copy (not upgrade) and reinstall windows after having reformatted the hd in ntfs format. Without admin access you are screwed. Have a nice day :)

If you find any thing like "Press ....." at the time when the system starts. Press it!
Or at the time of Booting up press either F1 or F8 or DEL key (depends). You will probably be presented with the reinstallation option. Follow onscreen Instrictions.
