I think the Hulbert area (part of the Newberry area) is beautiful. My family has been visiting there for many years.
Here's a link for Upper Peninsula Real Estate.

It all depends why you want to move to a small town and what you are looking for. No matter what, Manistique wins my vote hands down! Many reasons, small town but has a few amenities that might make living a little more convenient, like a few gas stations that are open after 10pm. It is right on the lake, it's very scenic. There is a few stores but if you need more choice with shopping, Escanaba is about an hour away. There are many motels, even a Holiday Inn Express, for people to choose from when they come to visit. The people are nice and mind their own business. My family grew up there and MANY relatives still live there. I plan to retire there someday (in 20 yrs.).

Hi.....I graduated from Newberry in the Upper Peninsula and my parents still live in Seney. If I moved back and sometimes I think about it.....I would choose Marquette which of course is way bigger than what you are looking for. But for smaller towns. Newberry, Manistique and Munising are all great towns that get a little bustle-y in the summer when the tourists are around.....Newberry is the quieter of the three but I am a little biased :) People that I have graduated with have remained there and built their careers there.

the fall is my fashionable because of the alluring Fall colors and wonderful climate. October is the finished! After that, summer and wintry climate are tied relying on what you want to do. in case you want snowboarding and such, wintry climate is giant contained in the UP in Michigan. in case you want swimming and boating, summer is the glaring selection. the merely season I dislike in Michigan is Spring. the elements is unpredictable, yet frequently chilly, moist, and muddy. Yuck!
