Dude, if she is living in your house and getting state aid, she is breaking the law. At least in CA. My husband was a long line truck driver and he let his ex and their two kids live in the house he owned, free of rent. She was also getting welfare. A few years later, they took his tax return saying he needed to pay them back for child support. All he had to do was show proof that she lived in a house he owned during that period, and they gave it back. That is support my dear, tell them or they will hang you for it.

I am not sure how you have to pay the state, but I will take a stab at it anyway. You need to put more details in your question.
Federal Income Taxes are taken on all income earned worldwide. Unless you are a church you can't escape death and taxes. Even someone that relies on Social Security for their support has to file a tax form, even though the Income they are earning is from the federal coffers.
The laws in every state are different some states don't even have state income taxes, Alaska actually has a negative tax, and shares part their profit they get from oil revenues. So you are going to have to contact your state to see what the laws are there.
If you have to pay child support because of a ruling by a judge or a divorce decree then you still have to pay. If you are living with the child that you are supporting them you can try to talk with the judge or attempt to renegotiate your divorce degree, which will be close to impossible.
Regardless of what happens you are probably going to have to pay. Now you can argue about how you are providing support for the child. You are sharing the rent and the bills and that can be considered child support. The only way you are going to not be forced to continue to pay is if you can show just how you are paying already.

No. The only time a parent has to pay the state for child support, is when the child is in the care of the state.

ok im not exactly following ur question but im going to try my best to answer..
If you've been ordered to pay through the state , its in ur best interest to do so.. as i know a man that paid directly to his x and when the state caught up to him he explained what was happening and the courts said that was a gift and he still needed to pay the now "back" child support..
If the child is living with u , u need to let the courts know what is going on, but untill the courts change it, to save ur own butt id pay the state, if nothing else u pay the state the state cuts a check and it comes back to u to go towards ur bills if u and the mother are still living together..
Definately call a lawyer and see what they advise u to do..

Pay them for what? Child support is miss named, It is really " Spousal reimbursement ", for the part of the child's care you are responsible for. The Custodial Parent, pays up front for caring for the child and you put up your share monthly. If you are back together and supporting the child together ( and can prove it ) you need to go back to court and straighten things out. If you are not supporting the child...start. Good luck, I hope things are turning around.

Pay the state FIRST. Courts are very weird about this kind of thing, even if you are supporting the child and can prove it. Its not you - its the bad guys that don't pay child support that makes the courts so "hard core" about this. BTW: Good for you!!!

If she is getting aid from the state, and they dont know about you, they are gonna rack your butt in child support. Keep all records showing you lived there during this time, and try as hard as u can to keep reciepts. You will need them.
