You can start having some symptoms the week before the period is due. It usually starts with feeling a little moody for a few days. Then there is some feeling bloated. You may have a headache. Many people have none of these, though. Some people have some or all of these only sometimes. Some people have less common things like joint pains.

A day or two before the period starts you may crave something like salt or spices or even a cheese steak (some big, heavy, meal with lots of fats). You could have a quick little dizzy spell or nausea spell.

Usually, no cramps come (if they're coming at all) until the day of the period. They tend to come before the period starts and (again, if they're coming at all) tend to kind of be around for the first day.

On Day 2 of your cycle you may wake up and feel like all if right with the world. You don't have any appetite, you are craving anything, you're feeling slim, and back to your old pleasant self.

There can be all kinds of variations of symptoms from woman to woman and period to period, but the above is a description of how it is for most people a good part of the time.

Before starting the pill I'd be anxious, depressed(suicidal), angry(homicidal), tired, an insomniac and extremely irritable, breast pain and food cravings for the week before my period. Sometimes I'd get almost manic and hyper sexual before the starting of my pre-period symptoms. On the pill, I have all the same symptoms but to less of an extreme and for fewer days. The symptoms let up on the second day of my 3 day period (pill) and the 5th day of my 9 day period (no pill).

PMS is not something that is 'just part of being a woman' and is something that can be treated with dietary and life style changes as well as medications like hormonal birth control and antidepressants. Talk to your doctor if you are suffering.

The symtoms vary from person to person. Some people do not have any symtom at all and they also do not have pain. They have normal flow of periods. But in many women, various intense sensations brought about by the involved hormones and by cramping of the uterus can precede or accompany menstruation. Stronger sensations may include significant menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea), abdominal pain, migraine headaches, depression and emotional sensitivity, and changes in sex drive. Diarrhea or loose stools are common for the first few days of a woman's period.[citation needed] Breast discomfort caused by premenstrual water retention is very common. The sensations experienced vary from woman to woman and from cycle to cycle.

I crave salt like a madman, or tangy sweet strong stuff like sweet & sour sauce. I get really tired and keep feeling like I am not getting enough sleep. I get sad and cry and sometimes I get mean and bitchy. My boobs blow up and get really tender. And a little cramping too but not so bad. Then like someone said, on Day 2 or so, everything is fine, feeling slim again and all is right in the world lol

abdominal cramping, sometimes tender breasts, sudden shift in moods, appetite changes (like strong cravings). Most often symptoms show, up to a week early. Every thing varies by person.

did you know that you actually crave before your period? specially sweets....... plus me, iactually feel like i have my period already but its not painful so i know it not the actual period yet. it helps to mark your calendar during your first and last period then count 28 days if you have regular period. but if your period comes irregular then no one really knows

but if you dont believe me then maybe you can browse the internet and type youre question and press search.
