Forgive me, but I'm an American--whenever I see your House of Commons or House of Lords on CSPAN, it looks as if you have more than 2 major political parties holding office. Can someone from the UK provide details?

Three parties dominate politics in the House of Commons. They all operate throughout Great Britain (only the Conservative Party stands candidates in Northern Ireland). Most of the British Members of the European Parliament, the Scottish Parliament, and the National Assembly for Wales represent one of these parties:

Labour Party, centre-right to left-wing (traditionally left-wing) (355 seats in the House of Commons)
Co-operative Party (all Co-operative Party MPs are also Labour MPs as part of a long-standing electoral agreement)
Conservative Party, centrist to centre-right (traditionally centre-right) (198 seats)
Liberal Democrats, centrist to centre-left. (63 seats)

No, there are only 2 major political parties in the UK. The Labor Party which Tony Blair is a member and then you have the conservatives on the other side. In the house of commons it's people and reps from all the districts they represent, maybe thats why that is confusing you.

Conservatives, with a capital C, have a mistrust of the means of maximum individuals and governments in maximum situations. they are oftentimes observed as "Goldwater Conservatives" and a brilliant form of individuals have become Libertarians. you will sometimes pay attention us describe the form via fact the best peace treaty ever written. Liberals have faith in "examining" the form so as that they are able to do what they prefer, in spite of the written words of the treaty, or what it does to the minorities. This makes Conservatives very frightened related to the innovative and prescient of Liberals, oftentimes bringing to concepts photographs of infants twiddling with suits in a dynamite shack. Small c conservatives are easily imperialists and a brilliant form of times fascists, with a small f. Get the image? I now not spend plenty time speaking with them.
