If you want to stop a high sided vehicle from parking in front of your shop and there are no time limited or restricted parking rules, then why not simply park your own car or a friends car in the space outside your shop? To consider "persuading" the high sided vehicle not to park by vandalism as some suggest is a stupid idea and totally illegal.

If there are no yellow lines or other signs making it "illegal" to park there, You have only one other hope and that is "Local Bye Laws". These are laws passed at Local Government level and which may prohibit the parking of vehicles outside of Your Business. A telephone call to your Local Government office (maybe council office depending on what country you live) will answer that question. I believe that You live in England, so this advise is sound for that Country. We as citizens however, "cannot" make a rule/law and stop people parking there.

Probably not much. Have you tried approaching the owner/driver in an amicable way? Technically, unless the street is a legally recognised parking area, any vehicle parked at the side is causing an obstruction and the police are entitled to take action. But of course they rarely do.

Post a sign that says "customer parking only please". If they still persist, ask them politely to park elsewhere, and see if you can't put up a sign that will be visible ABOVE the vehicle that lets people know that you are open for business - you will have to check local ordinances/laws to see if its allowed, but the "customer parking only please" sign could be placed inside the window. Be polite with your "offender" and you might even get a new customer or two! Good luck with this - I have some friends that had a similar problem.

In America what is usually done is to put in parking meters. You can reimburse customers who buy something. People who want to park all day will find someplace else to park. I had a friend who illegally parked in a hotel loading zone in San Francisco, the manager took a knife and slit her car seats. She always left the car doors opened. You can first tr y painting the car with easily removable paint to get the message across.

In America I can talk to the building owners and have a sign put up infront of my store concerning parking limitations. No trucks or deliveries out front, customer parking only, 1 hour parking, and if they don't play ball you can have them towed at their expense.

Use diplomacy. The driver/owner might be ur customer. U can always post a no parking sign, or customers parking only.

If there are no parking restrictions or double yellow lines, I`m afraid there`s not a great deal you can do about it legally.
Why not try having a nice word or two over a cup of tea with the driver? :-)

If there are no double yellow lines there then you have no recourse I'm afraid.
If there is a single yellow line then there are already certain restrictions in place.
I know how frustrating it is for you so do what you have to do!

Not much if it public parking. You could petition city counsel for limitations.
