The answer is quite simple, (8.3333)^2 does not equal
(2)^2
But (8^0.3333)^2 does equal (2)^2
Now check it out.
(8)^0.3333 = 2 (2)^2 = 4
(2)^2 = 4

I think you must have read the sum wrong as it appears to be
(8^1/3) ^2 where ^ means "to the power of"
Now it is simple as power of 1/3 means cube root so cube root of 8 is 2 and therefore you can replace 8^1/3 with 2 leaving you with 2^2.
I don't know how to write the fraction as you have done but 8 and one thirds are NEVER equal to 8 x 1/3 but 8 + 1/3.

Thats an easy one. 8 to the power 1/3 or 8^(1/3) is the cube root of 8 which gives u 2.
So both 2^2 and also (8^(1/3))^2 equals 4.. get it ?! :)

Let's see if I remember how to do this... 8 x 1/3= 8/1 x 1/3... flip the inequalities and multiply 8/1 x 3/1 = 16/1 or 16.... so 16 squared changed to 2 squared would require dividing by 8 squared.... I think. :)

Read the question properly. It may be 1/3rd power of 8. If it is correct they the answer is 2. The 1/3rd power means cube root of 8 that is = 2. Then the value of z = 2.

it is the third root of 8, so you have to find a number that will multiply 3 times to get 8 .That number is 2 because 2x2x2=8. You alway do what is in the parethis first so you get (2)^2

okay listen. all these other people are retarded. 8 is the same thing as 2^3. so replace the 8 with 2^3. now you have:
(2^3(1/3))^2.
now you multiply the exponents inside the parentheses(3 x 1/3) which equals 1.
now you have 2^2.

8 1/3 = 25/3 (from here on we will refer to this as x)
so...
divide x by 4
x=2 to the second power

no matter how i look at your equation, the left hand side will never be equal to the right hand side.
HOWEVER, if you make 1/3 an exponent, everything will make sense.
(8^(1/3))^2=2^2
because 8^(1/3)=2
