Hi,

I am thinking about opening a beadshop. I think I found a good location. What I need to know is what would be the average inventory cost for a store about 1400s/f Any experienced bead shop owner or manager can give me a ball park figure? Thanks...

If I had this big place. I would display all the beads hanging on the wall side and some in the middle on the table. Beading class at back room is a great idea. The thing is investment wise in Beads is high. You have to display all kind of Beads and findings in a complete range. As many as you can. And inventory of each sort maybe a lot. But Good Luck!!

Start small and expand. You may want to put up a wall to make it appear that the store is smaller than the 1400 SF. That way your inventory won't look lost in such a large space. Offer classes in the backroom.

There's a TON of beading resources at http://beadwork.about.com/ You can search the articles, and I suggest checking out the Forum there - it's very lively and usually has quite a few beadshop owners that can help you out.
