how do we know that someone is sincere to us.i mean,in friendship and maybe by offering us some comfort.

You just know. If you second guess yourself about the person, then there is something you do not trust. I found out my ex-bestfriend was talking crap about me behind my back to my boyfriend when i was at his house and she was on aim. So there is situations when you can figure stuff out. If someone is looking sincere and then as they walk away they roll their eyes, they probably are not too sincere. But like i said, when you trust someone you know it. They have never let you down or purposely hurt you.

Well, if they try to psychoanalyze you, ie verify your sincerity or something lame like that, then you definitely can't trust them. What's more, even if they just happen to guess correctly at what you're thinking, it's a snowball's changein hell that they do it again. So when this person is thinking you're thinking something that you're not, they won't even understand the words that are coming out of your mouth. They'll just make up a whole different personality for you and become a total psychopath on you and probably accuse you of something crazy.

We don't. Not even lie detectors are correct 100% of the time and no human being is as good as that machine.
A persons actions, over time, are much better indicators of intentions than what they say.
If you have a trusting relationship with an older adult/parent, seek their option. "A wise man can profit from the mistakes of others, a fool has to make all their own mistakes."

I think it comes from knowing the person for a long time, and by noticing if that person is with you during the good and bad times. The actions count more than words!!! Always remember this!!
