Call the Orkin man! I wouldn't go near it! It might have a disease...even worse..there may be more than one in there! Eew! I purchased a year plan with them online and pay only $91.00 every 2 months (automatically billed to my cc) so that I can have peace of mind, and not have any of those nasty pests!!! It's well worth it! I signed up online and got $35.00 off the first visit! You should check em out! They're pretty good! Good luck!

Is dead and gone an option? If so, lay out some poison or traps. Poisons can be bad if there are pets or children around, also poisoned animals can go and die in some place they're hard to locate but easy to smell as they decay.

Traps can be messy, tricky to use right, and more time consuming.

If you want the rat out without killing it, rent the garage out to a lawyer, the rat will leave all by itself.

1) Buy cheese

2) Buy a mousetrap (or several for back up)

3) Put cheese on mousetrap according to instructions

4) Wait for the rat to try and eat the cheese

5) Dispose of dead rat in the garbage can the next morning
