That there is so much conflict in America today? Our government and people are so divided....and yet, I am sure, we all want the same things! I'm sure of this about other countries as well. We want freedom....to live peacefully and within our religious beliefs, and to stop others who want to impose upon this. So, why is there such a disconnect between the parties? And I ask you, are you mad that America has such a disconnect and strong disagreement of issues?

Gaspbde-I didn't need to read any further than your post-thanks! You are right that divisions play into the hands of group and individuals, and their voice, if heard, makes all the difference. And surely God does weep! May we learn to spread peace....

Volleyball chick....Absolutely! They do only benefit their own viewpoints and political agenda. But though, I'm not a real Bush supporter, but I do believe he gets more crap than he deserves.

And Fathead!!!...I get todispute you!!! Ability to divide is good, but we need to put aside our diferences and agree as a nation. That is what I'm upset about....plus the fact we are divided on how to handle the difference. United we stand, divided we fall.......and I can't add anymore to that.

You bet.
Most people want the same basic things.
Why then can't we get along? Could it be that the divisions play into the hands of some group or individual?
"Divide et impera" probably applies to public opinion as much as it does to an opposing army.
Yup, I'm angry too. Neither of the major American parties is working for the good of the people, and that seems to hold true everywhere.
God must surely weep.

To a point, yes, I am mad. The whole point of a free democratic society is the ability of all to express their ideas. Now, anyone who expresses a differing opinion is labeled "ignorant", "uneducated", and many other degrading labels.

But my main disappointment in America today is this: we have the right to vote as we see fit, but when the person we voted for is not elected, we pout like two year olds instead of being adult about it and accepting that we will just have to try again next time. And instead of accepting responsibility for our actions, we blame the other guy for our mistakes or losses.

And actually, to answer your question, the more I think about it I'm not really mad, but more disappointed.

The division comes specifically from conservative Christians trying to take over the country and tell everyone how to live. If they would stay within their religion, as you say, every problem would reduce in size.

fathead -
Do you write this stuff for a living?

I don't remember the last time I saw such literate gibberish,..., maybe Reagan, it's been a while.

No, I am not mad, in fact it makes me smile.

We may have different opinions, but we all have one thing in common. We all are allowed to have them. People will disagree with me and say that have our rights taken away and we are always censored, but they say this not realizing that they are allowed to without worrying about being shot.

People need to disagree, it gives them an opportunity to analyze what and why they have what they have. I know that when people disagree with me, I tend to reanalyze my opinions. By doing this, we can move forward. By arguing, we can scope out potential problems and resolve them before they become major issues.

For the record, our rights when it comes to freedom of speech are tried everyday, and I do agree that we need to watch what we say more than ever. But I don't have to worry about a officer shoot me for saying something the is questionable.

Because there are too many that only want something if it benefits them financially. And their viewpoints reflect that.

I am sick of the political agendas. I think we should all work together for the common good. But then I wake up and realize the worst perpetraitor of all that is in office, so I roll my eyes, and begin my day. . .

What are you complaining about? The fact is that freedom is what allows people to be divided. It is a GOOD thing, not a bad thing.

You want monolithic thinking then perhaps Cuba, North Korea, or Iran would be more in your taste?

Once again I agree with fathead. Our freedom allows us to believe what we will. Diversity makes the conversation more interesting. Isn't okay to agree to disagree?

Well, you have a political party that only cares about winning. So the more we fail in Iraq the happier they are. They are like vultures who have to poop on themselves because they have no sweat glands.
