I work for my money, I expect other people to work for thiers. If it's bad service, I don't tip. In fact, I will tell them "I'm not tipping you for your sh*tty service".
If it's good service, 15%. If I like the girl... $100 bucks even if it's a ten dollar meal, but I will just leave and not ask for her number, why??? I'm in no rush and don't want to use money to influence any relationship. If i'm entertaining clients, 15-20% depending on where we're at.

I usually give 15 to 25% depending on service. If service is ok and I sit at the table to talk after eating I figure the server is losing money and tip a little extra. Since breakfast is cheap and the work is the same I often tip double. I hate to admit it but there have been a few times that the service was so bad that I didn't tip, but I'm talking about really bad service at a restaurant I never plan to visit again.

I usually pay between 5 to 10% depending upon the service I receive. Most of the restaurants are so highly priced already that paying more Tip shall hurt my wallet. Whether or not the servers remember me later is not very important for me really, but I always remember the good service rendered to me by them.

my husband and i are very good tippers. i personally have never been a server but i have family and friends who have been and i know that the tips really make the difference when it comes to the income of the server and most are students, young parents and people just starting out. they really rely on the tips. i will tip less if someone is not doing a good job, but we usually pay 25-30%. we don't go out often though. and tipping in a bar or casino we usually do a dollar a drink accept beer that is more like a dollar a pitcher. but like i said we rarely go out so its not like we go broke tipping either.

I am the same way. The better the service, the better I tip. I've even tipped 50 percent of the bill when there have been a lot of us and we were a little rowdy or hard to please.
I saw on the news tonight that they want to make tipping 20 percent a part of your bill, but I don't agree with that. If waiters know they are gonna get 20 percent no matter how shabby the service, I think the service will get worse and not better.

If the server is friendly and attentive, I will give her a 20% tip. If she is extraordinary, I will tip 25%. If the service was ok, but not great, she will get a 15% tip.

15% if it's only fair service. 20% if it's good. $1-2 for each diner at a buffet depending on how much mess was made. I always leave something cause my Gramma was a server way back in the day and used to tell horror stories of only getting a dime.

20%+
My daughters are servers. They have informed us on what goes on in the business. Most Europeans and Asians are NO tippers. People with coupons need to know to tip on what the total should have been. Tips are taxed. Servers are only paid minimum wage......no raises. Yeah, its a hard job and if done well, need to be tipped and tipped well.

I tip pretty good, just like you said just as long as the server does not forget about me or my food is cold or they forget to ask how everything is going and only come around to drop off the bill when I barely even took my first bite of food.

If the service is good, I usually tip 20%. If the service is excellent, I've been known to tip 50%. I have also on rare occasions tipped over 100%. I'm very generous when I'm being spoiled ;)
