Yes I do think that people who bring up slavery in a racial question have issues. I think anyone who brings up slavery in any polite conversation has an issue or a bone to pick. Slavery happened a long time ago, yes it was bad (an understatement), but there is nothing that we can do about it today. Slavery does not need to be forgotten, but it also does not need to be brought up in polite society to rehash the pain, or to prove ones point. To me it's an unintelligent way to put down a race. It's sort of like when some guys call another guy gay just because they want to put him down, they can't think of anything better to say.

Slavery is often brought up in these questions because a lot of the things that affect black women and men today can be traced all the way back to slavery. promiscuity is one myth that was propagated by slavery or the slave master. The black woman was raped then others were told that she likes it. I agree slavery is not the cause for all stereotypes or problems with blacks but let us remember that the American black culture (for the most part) is a culture invented by slavery or the aftermath of slavery.

Perhaps because the slavery issue is not truly resolved. That is to say that the attitudes related to slavery is still part and parcel of USA culture today.
It was in effect a holucast that involved one part of the Human family mistreating another part of the Human family. The economic greatnes of USA is due in large part ot the practice of genocide upon the indegenous population and the slave trade by so-called God - Fearing Christian men, who could ignore or distort their Holy Scriptures to line their pockets and satisfy their blind ambitions, sorrid sex practices, and fuel their immature minds with the importance of their existence.
Slavery is as American as mom, apple pie, and lynching. Although Slavery is present throughout Human history and the planet Earth, the African slave trade stands out as one of the most cruel of systems, that shine the light on the worst of systematic indecencies, that seems to be connected to indencecies today and those of the past.
For instance, the hypocracy of mistreatng ones fellow, as exemplifed by child abuse, spousal abuse, and employee abuse is tied to slavery. The racial designations of white or black started with slavery. Early on, the ships manifest show that the designations were Christian and pagan or infidel.
I could go on, but it would serve nothing. What is most important is that YOU understand the truth of the matter.
The truth is that there are only Humans; not super-Humans or Sub-Humans, ONLY Humans. As an individual you must define yourself, distingush yourself, to become the person that you were meant to be, in order to contribute to the progress of yourself and as a result the Human family.
Be the example for others to incorporate into their behavior. It is within you. Love You and infect others with that Love.
Remember: what others say about you is none of your business. It is a distraction that wll not serve you. Think Good Thoughts. That will serve you.

I was having a little trouble discerning your question, but I assume you mean anyone of any race who brings up slavery, right? Because my thoughts on the matter is that slavery is a lame-duck excuse for unacceptable social behavior, both by blacks and whites, still used often today.
2 examples: A white person and a black person have an disagreement, possibly the white person believes that they should win by default because secretly they believe that slavery is right, and that blacks were meant to be subservient to whites.
-or-
Another disagreement--the black person believes that the white person should defer to them, because the white culture "owes them something" due to their ancestors' suffering under slavery.
Of course, both scenarios are rediculous, because none of us have ever been been a slave in this counrty, or owned slaves in this country. We are talking about a practice that died, thankfully, over 100 years ago. It should be a dead issue by now, except for being taught in history class. But it keeps coming up because wrong ideas are "handed down" from generation to generation. Do our society a favor, and help stop this behavior with our generation, by not passing down wrong ideas about slavery to our children.
Sorry about getting on my soapbox there for a minute, but that's my 2 cents' worth, for what it's worth! :)

Slavery is brought up as a social reminder of sadness and rage; in order to establish some type of common ground of what was experienced. Slavery to me is a lame excuse for any racial argument.

I think that, unless you experience something for yourself, you can only imagine, and some people don't even WANT to imagine. Like being a parent, or losing a child, or being in love with someone way too young, being homeless... I'm always being told, "Indians (Natives) were conquered! Get over it!" Yeah, well, it would take a book to say how I feel about that. All-in-all, it boils down to ignorance. And, at least, that's something that CAN change.
