I was in WI at the time, so I was quite removed and have only seen news coverage.

Nah. I saw that stuff go down one uneasy morning before I walked with the chambermaids out of staff accommodations over to the hotel. It was strange. We were up in Jasper, as we are not American and have never ventured to the American Northeast. Not that we wouldn't like to, but my wife can't travel right now with health concerns and a fear of airplanes. I am not one to push it.

She wasn't there, she was at home with my son. I remember seeing one of the buildings in flames and heard that an airplane on fire had crashed into it. It was assumed to be a hijacking-gone-wrong at the time and Palestinians were blamed for it in early reports. Just to show how it goes with the media and generalizations...

Anyway, I came home after running errands, picking up my cheque and cleaning up the restaurant in the afternoon. It took a few days to sink in. A real tragedy that was just bizarre and totally uncalled for. Never really understood it. It has to do with globalization, Islamic fundamentalism, terrorist, fascist underground organizations, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, a history of colonialism in the Middle East and so many other factors. I wonder what the history books will say about it.

Yeah, I was in Fairfield, Connecticut and we could see the smoke rising from across Long Island sound. We took a drive into the city the next day and saw the rubble first hand. It looked, felt and smelled like a huge grave yard.

I was in NM, so I watched it on TV in disbelief. That is all they showed, over and over, and it was so horrendous. I feel so horrible for those poor people, the ones who perished, their loved ones, the ones who went to their aid, and have since died and/or are dying from the impurities/poisons in the air.

God bless them and help them.
