just chill! it will be ok i promise. sometimes guys don't know. it is much harder to detect in men. your future will be fine too. mine was! i found a wonderful man who loves me no matter what i have. besides, it gets better with time. the breakouts become fewer and fewer, and less painful too. you are going to be ok. you will get used to it, and you will learn how to deal with certain situations involving the "problem" (you're right about it being an ugly word). i'm very sorry you're burdened with it, but the first step is to accept it. good luck!!! pray for a cure!

Honey, don't feel so sad. I know that it is shocking and upsetting but you might be suprised to find out that 50 million people have genital herpes. That is 20 % of the population. Think of it this way, if you are in a room with 10 people, statistically you are not the ONLY person in the room with Herpes. Yes, I always thought that herpes was an ugly word, too! You are definitely not alone. Most guys like to say that they get tested regularly, but most don't. And, even if he does get tested, they don't test on a regular basis for herpes. And, sadly, some people never show any symptoms that the person might pick up on. Like, they might get a cold sore that they think is an ingrown hair. Did you get the sores tested to see if you have Type 1 or Type 2? Type 1 is generally milder. Rest assured that first outbreak is "usually" the worst. Sometimes people don't get another one. But, you can still pass it on. Always use condoms until you get in a serious relationship with someone and then discuss it with them. I suggest you look up some info on the Internet. There are some natural remedies that you can take daily that can help you. Good Luck to you honey! And remember that you shouldn't be ashamed. It is just a part of life and it can happen to anybody.

Don't be ashamed..you'd be surprised at how many people actually have herpes. Some people..especially guys can be carriers of the herpes virus yet show no symptoms. Your first year is usualy the worst with the most out breaks but after that they should taper off. Some people go years without ever having a problem. Like I said you'd be surprised..do some reading they say that 3 out of 4 people carry the virus. Chin up!

Usually, you can't get a test for herpes unless you've gotten an open sore. There is a blood test for herpes but, it's not very common and doesn't always tell whether it's HSV 1 or 2. One causes cold sores and the other causes gential sores. It can hide for years and a person (male or female) can have it and spread it without knowing or ever having a break out.

Having an STI does not make you dirty or disgusting and isn't something you need to be ashamed about but, as you know it's something you need to inform your future partner(s) about and take proper precautions.

Stop. There is not reason for guilt or shame on your part...now or ever. It is a shame that you have something that won't go away, but the symptoms can be controlled. Valtrex will probably work very well for you - but don't stop there! Always have the man use protection (condom) to avoid spreading herpes or getting something else yourself! When you get into a long term, monogamous relationship, you won't have to worry the way you do now. Good luck - and be careful!

It can be bad at first, but it gets better with time. You can take Lysine to help your skin heal faster. Also for dating or suppoort check out www.mpwh.com.

You would be surprised how many people have it. My friends all confide in me.. and most of them have it! (although they don't tell anyone else - even thier lovers!)
It really pisses me off, how many people in this world do not tell thier partners. Not just men, but even my girlfriends who have it do not tell the guys they date (so this guy assumes he is clean and goes on to another girl). It makes me sick, and I don't trust anyone anymore (except my boyfriend who had to bring me his paperwork from the lab!)

Just be thankful it wasn't something worse, and a warning to be very safe.

Sorry that things didnt work out for you. Dont be ashamed.. at this point you need to accept the fact that it has happened and their is no going back. Check into a local support group.. Go to this page to find one in your area http://www.herpes-coldsores.com/std/herpes_support_groups.htm
