Lillypads grow in a 40 acre pond, and they double size each day. It will take 40 days for the lillypads to cover the entire pond. On which day will the pond be 1/2 way covered?

If they double every day the 39th day they would cover half, because the 40th they cover the whole thing.
Does that make sense?

If they double each day, and on the 40th day the pond is filled, it is half-filled on the 39th day.

On the thirty ninth day, but just in case spelling counts lily pads is spelled with two L's not three.

A better question would be what is the unit of measure on the 1st day?
