When my son was 5 years old he always kept his promises. I told him that his promises were GOLDEN and he has to keep a golden promise. I tried to re-inforce him to be proud of his promises by bragging about his honesty in front of relatives and giving him rewards for being so trustworthy.

This particular kid is 20 years old now. He doesn't make promises very often...but if I can pry a promise out of him, I know for sure that he will absolutely keep his promise. He is still a promise keeper.

My five year old brother ALWAYS keeps his promises no matter what. He goes to a private school and has prestigious tutoring, I think it's that which makes him like that. As to how to lead him to his future life? He's too young for you to figure that out yet. You need to wait at least till he's about ten or eleven years old.

it's true that they never keep their promises..but they will learn gradually and steadily...that promises are to be kept..
kid should be encouraged to keep promises by rewarding them. This is a good and effective way to reach to the deeper side of children ..a kind of blackmailing
