If I was denied a job because my sealed record was revealed in a background check, do I have a lawsuit against the court clerk's office where the file was held?

If the information inside the sealed record was revealed you might have something, but the presence of a sealed record is a public record.

No you do not. I can guarantee all that was revealed was the presence of the sealed record itself. If the CONTENTS of the record were revealed you /might/ have a lawsuit, depending on the statutes in your state. There ARE some circumstances where sealed records can be unsealed and often those circumstances are employment related. I don't know what state you are in so I can't help you more than that. However, it's unlikely that you have any cause of action.

No. You have blocked access to the employer's legal right to run a background check. Common sense tells employers you are hiding something, and they are not obligated to hire you unless you are a new species with twelve fingers and toes from Saturn.
