Dish Network smart cards are just used for identity purposes. It's just a number associated with the receiver there is no actual "card" with dish network. Direct TV has a tangible card that can be removed

Never had a problem with Dish and never had to change a card that came in the machine.

i dont know but im switching services cause dish network sucks
