He won't let you touch it because they are very painful. Don't try to pop it or squeez it. Go to the drug store and ask the pharmacist for drawing salve. Put a small amount on it and cover with a bandage it will draw it out in a day or two and he will be fine. My son had a boil on his back also and he would not let me put hot compresses on it, said it hurt too bad he could not stand it so the drawing salve was the best for us.

I use to get these when I was little.......make a poultice
a piece of bread...about 2-3 inches I think the heal works best. Soak it in milk and apply to the boil...(crust up,The bread part to the boil). It will be cool to the skin this will comfort. Cover with a 4" compress or anything clean. As the bread drys it draws the core out on its own and the yeast and milk together is the trick
You may need to repeat.

There is an oil from the Australian tree Malaleuca Alternifolia called Tea Tree Oil. Please get the purest that is available for best results. This fluid has antiseptic, antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal properties. Simply put a small amount (very potent and with strong odor) using a medicine dropper if possible, to control amount given. Twice a day on the first week, less if there is skin breakdown. The oil need not be massaged into the skin, as the body will absorb what it needs.

A very warm bath with Epsom or sea salt will pop the boil. It is best not to squeeze it as squeezing can cause the infection to back up into the blood stream.

use a cloth with a warm epsom salt solution as a poultice (no pressure just warm moisture with salts) should draw it and help it to heal. Do not "pop" it you might cause a more serious infection. Many boils are caused by infections of staph. aureus. This is a bacterial infection. If it does not drain and heal on its own it is doctor time.

take him to the doctor. it is probably an infection called Cellulitis. It is very common infection that is caused by dirt getting into a tiny open wound that you cant even see. dont mess with it because that will make it worse and it will get huge. They are very painful thats why he wont let you touch it. google cellulitis or celluloitis, im not sure of the spelling

Don't pop it.....apply a hot compress to it and let it burst on its own, and just put a bandage over it when it does so that it doesn't get infected. Make sure to keep the area REALLY clean, and don't pick at it.

If it was me, I would have it lanced. But yes, warm wet compresses are a good idea to draw the infection out.
