I think the gay marriage issue makes the republican party look really bad by trying to restrict freedom and discriminate against a certain group of people.
Restricting freedom is in conservatives' history though. They did it to black people for a very long time and that eventually failed, thanks to liberals. They did it to women, as well, almost everyone that thought differently than them. Now they are trying to hold on to some of the last restrictions of freedom that they have left, which is the restricting of the rights and freedoms of gay people. Gotta love those anti-freedom conservative "values".

As far as I'm concerned, the Republican who you should worry about the most is Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy. I believe that it was HIS goal to help re-elect Bush by rendering the Lawrence v. Texas decision.
In response to Eric B below, I strongly recommend that you read some about "constitutional law" as "interpretted" by the U.S. Supreme Court. I'd suggest starting with Dr. Evan Gerstmann's book "The Constitutional Underclass: Gays, Lesbians, and the Failure of Class-Based Equal Protection," published in 1999.

Personally, I couldnt care less if a persons gay or not. I really dont need to know what a persons interests are behind closed doors.
Its a broad statement to say that all Republicans hate gays though. HowevernI do loathe liberals but I dont think that translates to gay people.

Equal rights = no group of any kind poseses a right not posessed by any other group. = marrige for hetros - marrige for gays = whites have same drinking fountains as blacks
Inequal rights= opposite of above = whipen' slaves = no same sex marrige = bigotry against gays
so... you either are inequal rights = whip those slaves and hate those gays OR, equal rights = tolorance

Yes, I think gay rights have definitely helped the Republicans win many elections and I am sure the gay card will be played many times in the future. As for them doing something for you, I owuld not expect a kiss any time soon. Besides, who would want one from them anyway.
