Is there any way to END sexual desire? Yes, that's right, I'd like to completely eliminate my sexual desires from my life. No, masturbation is not an answer, it only INCREASES desire (as numerous studies have proven). I know it's been done in a few different ways, I just am not certain what those ways are. So, what is the way to end all sexual desire from my life?

Don't bother giving comments, I won't read them and I won't choose that as a best answer. I will only consider ANSWERS.

3 of you have mentioned meditation, that's a great start! Is that how nuns get rid of their sexual desires? What about buddhists? (No, I'm pagan, and that religion is very sexual, I just don't want to bother with sex.)

I can not be granted a hystorectomy in the USA because I have no children and even though I went through 6 months of chemotherapy to burn out my ovaries, my problems are not deemed enough to give me a hystorectomy. I wish! Burning out ovaries doesn't work at all, mine are completely non functional now and I have experienced menopause. That does not get rid of sexual desire. Any other suggestions?

If you are religious, you might consider a regimen of prayers and fasts. Or meditation, maybe even hypnosis. Unfortunately, we are ANIMALS who are driven by a biological need to procreate, and unfortunately for you it's actually kinda fun. As with any desire, punishing yourself when ever you feel the urge to satisfy it will only make you want it more. So try congratulating yourself for every day, week or month that you go without thinking about sex or gratifying your urges. I may not agree with you, but I certainly commend you. Sexual desire drives a lot of the sad parts of society.

Nuns don't get rid of sexual desire, they just deal with it. Sexual desire is a chemical thing. You can't get rid of it without removing all the glands that release those chemicals. Those include all of your sexual organs and your pituitary. You can do other things to take your mind off of it, but it can't go away. There are people who are asexual, who have no desire, but that is because their bodies are lacking the chemicals that cause desire in normal humans. You don't have to bother with sex. You don't have to give into your desires. Having sex isn't what being Pagan is about.

And masturbation doesn't increase desire, if it's done properly, assuming that you have actually had good sex in the past. It only increases desire in virgins and people who haven't had good sex. If you're a virgin, you're one step ahead of the game. Don't have sex. Even if you have bad sex your desire will spike like insane. If you want to take your mind off it, you can use various meditation techniques. Take up a hobby. Whatever. But this is a natural process, you shouldn't fight it, or try to get rid of it. Choosing not to act on it is fine, but trying to destroy it utterly is kind of twisted.

Well I don't know why you'd want to but I can think of a few suggestions.

I've got the ANSWER but you probably won't like my advice. But this will definitely work. First, get a hysterectomy, tubes, ovaries and all. This will catapault you right into menopause, dry you right up and give you hot flashes the whole shebang. If that doesn't work, go catch genital herpes and I promise you, in between the hormone upheaval and the sores you'll never think about sex again.

If that's too drastic for you, you might consider getting an antidepressant prescribed for you, they seem to be giving them to anyone who asks nowadays. I've heard Paxil, Effexor, Prozac, Zoloft all mentioned as moodkillers. The worst offenders are blood pressure medications and drugs prescribed for psychiatric conditions—antidepressants, in particular, but also tranquilizers and anti-psychotic drugs.

Some over-the-counter medications, such as antihistamines and medications for ulcers and motion sickness, can contribute to a lacking libido as well. I've also heard many women say hormones such as DepoProvera and high doses of birth control pills do the trick as well. Stress, overwork, lack of sleep and chronic illness are also good libido killers. Good luck with whatever you are wanting to do here.

Other then removing that part of the brain that controls the stimuli that produce sexual desire I doubt anything out there would be permanent.

In males...there are drugs that constitute a chemical castration but all that does is make it impossible for the male to achieve an erection.

In Females....genital castration of the clitoris does nothing more then make it impossible to have a clitoral orgasm but does nothing to prevent the actual desire for sexual gratification.

Please remember, the desire itself starts as a emotional need for closeness and intimacy. The real question is why would you want to eliminate one of the most human of all needs?

I think willpower is the only way. The human body is designed to want to reproduce, so only mental toughness can overcome that. It doesn't actually make the desire go away, but you prove that your are stronger that the desire.
