My guinea pigs are very afraid when it starts raining...that tells me that they probably don't know how to swim. It's a good question,..... but I really don't know the answer. I'll check back later to find out.

Of course they can swim! They are originally from the rain forests of South America. They can't swim across rivers or anything, their little legs aren't that strong, but they can swim short distances. It is good exercise for them to swim, so next time you bathe them, let them give it a whirl.
Now keep in mind, some of them would PREFER not to....

Good question!!! I would like to know myself and I don't even own a guinea pig... You should look in a book about them. That is what I did with my rabbit and now I know what I am doing and my max loves me so much... and (MAX) is the name of my rabbit!!!

They may be able to swim short periods, but they are not meant for the water and would probably drown quickly.

Most animals can swim in an emergency, but why would you try it with your guineas? I don't think it'd make them happy & would probably endanger them...or not....

I thought all animals knew how to swim. You could make him a little pool to see. But don't make it deep. Just enough for him to splash in.
