I was seen in my OB's office today but all she did was check my breast for this skin infection I have and listened to the baby's heartbeat. On the way home I had to stop to go to the bathroom. I noticed bright red/pink spotting that has now tappered off and changed to brown. I've also been having very light cramps. The only other thing I can think of is that I've been a little constipated and had to push harder. Can that cause spotting? I've had spotting before during this pregnancy (this is my first one) and nobody seemed concerned but I never know when to be concerned and when not to be. What should I do? If I page the doctor they always make me feel stupid and it's almost 11:30 pm.

You need to discuss this with you ob. It's your first baby. You should always been concerned.

This could be absolutely nothing, and most of the time it is. It could also be a problem with the placement of the placenta, and infection, or preterm labor.

There's no reason not to discuss it with your doctor. It's always better safe than sorry in pregnancy. That's why your doctor is there.

You can call the labor and delivery unit at the hospital where you're going to deliver. They can find your doctor for you.

I would contact your doctor. It could be nothing at all, as spotting is normal in pregnancies, but it would make you feel SO much better if you went to your doctor to get checked out. Even if they make you feel stupid. They shouldn't, it's their job to make their patients feel comfortable and it's what they get paid doing! Like I said a little bit of spotting is normal, especially after a vaginal exam but you didn't mention that you had one of those today, but I would definitely call my doctor especially if it continues. That is what they are there for! Trust me if they didn't expect to get woken up at all times through out the night then they should have chosen a different profession! Good luck and I'm sure everything will be okay =)

I assume that you know where the blood was coming from. If it was definately from the vagina. Drink some serious water, take it easy, get off your feet, lie on your left side and call the doctor if you are still spotting of any color. Brown is indicative of old blood. Light cramps are probably just the expansion of the uterus. Spotting is always a reason to call.

I had a few spots around that time in my pregnancy and it was after some strenuous exercises. It could be nothing. It never hurts to call the doctor, who cares if he/she thinks your a pain your piece of mind and or safety is more important.

as i've heard spotting is normal during pregnancy. i also had that but only a little blood. i also had cramps, my belly seemed to hardened from time to time, mostly when i'm cold and at night. please tell your doctor about it, because you may have premature labor later on like i did. i gave birth to my son when he was 7 months old. also your doctor may tell you not to travel or no "contact" for the next months of your pregnancy.

See your doctor. There are a number of reasons why women bleed in pregnancy some of which are harmless but its not worth the risk. Also refrain from sexual activities until you have been checked.

This is often a sign of stage two siphilis or fetal infection syndrom (F.I.S) which u may have picked up from your husband or whom ever fertilised your egg.If not seen to by a specialist the baby may be born still birth or deformed and can often be born premature, this will definately cause serious damge to your body as well as the baby
