They may go away and your side effects are normal. It's usually recommended that you try a pill for at least 3 months before switching as it can take awhile for your body to adjust. If you feel like the side effects are too much to deal with you may want to call your doctor early and switch pill brands. Personally, I love the pill brand I'm on but, other brands were terrible. It takes some trial and error to find the pill that's right for you. Talk to your prescribing doctor about your concerns. You may need more or less estrogen and a different kind or level of progestin.

From what I know, it seems like your birth control is doing the exact opposite of what it should be doing for you. I am a nurse....I just recently graduated from nursing school, so maybe I don't know all that much, but I'm still a nurse and a past birth control user. Birth control wasn't specifically designed for skin and cramps. You'd have to specify the type you're taking for me to fully understand how to help. Personally, I think birth control sucks, and I don't recommend it to anyone. It decreases the sex drive, doesn't do what it says it does for skin, AND it increases the risk for blood clots that could be very bad for you. If I were you, I'd quit taking it. That's what I did after I was on it for a few months, and my regular life and sex life improved.

I had real bad luck with all kinds of birth control pills. The symptoms never went away for me. I was on Levora (low estrogen pill) and I got acne really bad. I also took Ortho Tri cyclen and my body thought it was pregnant. It was horrible! The symptoms may go away for some people, but if they don't go away in three months you should talk to your doctor and ask for a different pill.

I know what you're going through, as I just changed b/c pills from Ortho-Tricyclen Lo to Alesse. I'm not having much fun either, but the good news is that I feel a little better on this one than the other. I agree with the other posts that it's trial and error.

It's not uncommon for women to need to take a new BC pill for three months before it finally starts to seem like it's "working" the way it should for your skin and regularity. If after taking three packs, things are still this way......tell your doc and switch to a different one,
